The wave
Angola — The Kingdom of Lefts
On the southwest coast of Africa lies Angola, one of the last untouched treasures in the surfing world a coastline sculpted by time, river, and wind. Here, in Cabo Ledo, you’ll find one of the longest and most consistent left-hand point breaks on the planet a wave that peels for 900 meters to 1 kilometer (0.55–0.62 miles) of pure flow.
Breaking 95% of the days between May and September, Cabo Ledo delivers near-perfect conditions with light offshore winds almost all day long. The wave offers ideal training for longboarders with sections ranging from 80 centimeters to 1.5 meters (2.5 to 5 feet) of smooth, playful power that invites both flow and precision.
The water temperature averages around 21°C (70°F), striking the perfect balance for long sessions warm enough for comfort, cool enough for clarity. Whether you wear a 2/2 shorty, a 3/2 full suit, or simply boardshorts and sunscreen, you’ll feel at home in the water.
Here, at Longboard Master Minds, we surf the same point every day allowing for deep progression and real connection. From airport transfers to full-board accommodation, daily coaching, video analysis, and beach pickups, everything is designed so you can focus on what matters most: surfing, learning, and living in rhythm with the ocean.
Cabo Ledo is more than a destination it’s a journey into flow, freedom, and the pure essence of surfing.
Accommodation
Welcome to Carpe Diem
Just two hours from the airport, Cabo Ledo is a quiet surf town home to one of Africa’s most perfect left-hand point breaks. Our retreat offers a unique full-board experience at a beautiful eco-resort, located right in front of the wave.
From the moment you land in Angola, the resort team will greet you at the airport and take you directly to your accommodation where you can settle in, relax, and get ready for your first surf session.
Your stay includes all meals and drinks across three restaurants: the main hotel dining area, the resort restaurant, and a cozy beachfront café overlooking the point. Each offers a slightly different menu featuring fresh, nourishing food, with coffee, tea, water, juices, smoothies, and local beer available throughout the day all included. The idea is simple: you focus on surfing, resting, and enjoying, while everything else is taken care of.
The wave is within walking distance — about a 15–20 minute walk from the resort but if you prefer, a complimentary 4x4 safari shuttle service runs regularly throughout the day, offering easy transfers between the resort, the surf, and the nearby large hotel complex (about 15 minutes away) where you’re also welcome to dine and relax.
A professional surf photographer is based at the resort throughout the season, capturing high-quality surf footage twice daily (around 90 minutes per session). Each evening, we review and analyze the footage together a powerful tool for improving your technique and deepening your surfing experience.
Of course, you’ll take home all your personal surf photos and videos as a lasting memory of your time in Angola — a trip of world-class waves, deep learning, and pure joy.
